There is no doubt small business has taken it on the chin year after year in Washington State. Between high minimum wages, paid sick leave, super high payroll taxes, paid family leave, gross B and O taxes, and a host of new labor regulations, it’s amazing any of you are still around.

It’s also become quite evident that large corporate trade organizations and national groups aren’t getting the job done. That has never been so true as right now in the middle of this COVID debacle. While the big guys are setting sales records, you all remained closed or very limited operations. Who was sticking up for you? Certainly not the big organizations that thanked the governor for essentially killing the little guys.

So we figured it was about time to build an organization dedicated strictly to the small independent folks who deserve a voice and some attention to it. Enter Restore Washington Business Association. An affordable, effective alternative to those big corporate powered groups that pay you lip service but don’t really look out for you.

We didn’t have to look far.

For 16 years he was the leading advocate for small business in Olympia. Fighting from a minority position he helped stop some of the worst legislation facing small business. He served in the most powerful committees including labor, commerce, technology, health care, business and insurance, finance and appropriations. His team led the Republican caucus back from 33 to 48 seats setting the best record for pick up seats in the entire country. He also has owned 8 small businesses over 30 years, most built from the ground up.

Cary will keep you informed and ready for the battle to come. It’s going to get very ugly when the dust finally settles on COVID-19. As businesses you already pay over 50 percent of the tax burden. They will want more. Labor has gotten stronger again in the legislature so expect more new regulations that aren’t going to help. Have you heard of predictive scheduling? That’s just the tip of the iceberg. We expect the most anti business session ever coming our way in 2021. Also the most taxing. If we don’t see a change in the balance of power it could be catastrophic.

At RWBA we will not only track the bills, we can introduce and support positive legislation as well. We will let you know when and where the most important hearings happen and encourage you to attend. We will rate our representatives and help you support or remove them as needed.
